Joe Otin is the CEO of The Collective, a digital ad agency that supports major brands with creative and media services. He has three decades of experience in advertising and media research.

Joe previously worked with global research giant Ipsos for nine years where he rose to Managing Director of the Sub-Sahara African media division and board member of the global media research practice. At Ipsos he delivered double digit growth year on year for his entire tenure. Here he gained a worldwide view of the changing dynamics of new media and audience evolution. 

While at Ipsos, he also laid the foundation for integrating business and marketing insights for c-suite decisions in the telecommunication industry. He also supported fast moving consumer goods, beverage, finance, manufacturing, education, and healthcare sectors.

Prior to that he worked with one of the worlds largest agency brands, Y&R of the WPP network, where he managed the East African region of Caltex, a global oil and gas account. 

He is the Chairman of the Advertising Standards Board of Kenya and a Past President of Pan African Media Research Organization (PAMRO). He has served as chief judge for the Gala Awards for both the Public Relation Society of Kenya (PRSK) and the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK). In 2010, he was granted the Marketing Warrior Award by the MSK. He is a former expert columnist at the Business Daily Africa where he wrote weekly on marketing communications.

Joe demonstrates his social obligations by involvement in benevolent organizations. He is the chairman of the Resource Mobilisation Committee of WWF-Kenya. He has been a Rotarian for 22 years and serves as the 2023-24 chairman of The Rotary Foundation’s Peace Centers Committee. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Rotary Africa Magazine. 

He previously served as the RI Representative to UN Environment Programme, the promotions chairman for the 2023 Rotary International Convention in Melbourne, the vice chairman of the RI Communications Committee, a member of the RI Membership Committee, Africa’s Area Coordinator, Rotary Public Image Coordinator, Rotary Coordinators Institute Facilitator, District Governor, Co-Chairman of the Rotary UN Day Nairobi, and Co-Chairman of the Rotary/UN Environment Programme Partnership on the Adopt-a-River Initiative for Sustainable Development.
